NSU student exploring new product to prevent UTIs in women

Grace, Kennedy, Mitchell at ASBMB
Jon Mitchell, Ph.D., Grace Kramer and Kennedy Davis at the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology International Conference.

This interview originally aired on In the Moment on SDPB Radio.

Grace Kramer took home top honors at a national biochemistry conference for her research on preventing urinary tract infections in women.

During sex, bacteria can enter the urethra and cause a UTI. These infections are painful and can lead to dangerous kidney infections.

Kramer is exploring a potential product that creates a physical barrier to keep bacteria out of where it shouldn't be.

She discusses her research, the potential product and her advice to up-and-coming women researchers.
