Spearfish High School started its chapter of Health Occupations Students of America—Future Health Professionals this year. It's already a thriving group that joins over 40 other HOSA chapters in the state.
Christine Van Osdol is the school nurse and HOSA advisor at Spearfish High School. She experienced the need for this type of organization firsthand.
Van Osdol had tentatively started on the path to becoming a nurse before stepping away for a decade. Now, she's the advisor for a group that would have given her the support she needed as a prospective nurse.
