Monument Health has laid off 80 employees this week who mostly worked in corporate service roles.
The layoffs were part of a larger effort to reduce operational costs – namely to offset the rising costs of staffing and medical supplies.
According to a statement from Monument, this represents less than 2% of the health systems overall workforce, and many other positions in the organization are unfilled.
"While Monument Health is financially strong and continues to grow, our goal is to always be good stewards of resources," the statement said. "This is why we continue to take thoughtful actions to ensure we are providing quality care, achieving our budget goals and positioning ourselves for future growth and success."
In total, Monument Health employs nearly 5,300 people across its network.
