Red Cross urges South Dakota to give blood to meet summer demands

The American Red Cross is urging South Dakotans to give blood or platelets to help power the blood-supply this summer.

In most need, are those with type O blood, but all types are needed.

Red Cross officials say the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day is often referred to as the “100 Deadly Days of Summer” by trauma professionals.

It highlights the increased risk of accidents and injuries during this time, particularly among teens and young adults.

They say anyone who comes in by June 30, receives a $15 Amazon gift card and the chance to win one of two $7,000 gift cards.
