The Women, Infants, and Children, or WIC, nutritional support program will continue as normal in South Dakota despite the ongoing government shutdown.
The state Department of Health confirmed it with a statement Tuesday.
DoH leadership said they’re actively monitoring the status of the federal shutdown, adding participants will be notified if changes occur.
Today marks day 21 of the government shutdown, and benefit programs like WIC are considered unfunded as dollars continues to dwindle.
It is unclear if SNAP, another widely utilized food benefits program, will also continue in light of the shutdown.
