The state Department of Health has released its priorities for maternal and childhood health care needs.
This comes after a statewide assessment that took place over the last twelve months conducted every five years.
For mothers, postpartum visits to newborns are listed as the top priority. For infants, that leader is building safe and healthy sleeping habits. Children’s top priority is sufficiency of diet.
Results of this assessment's survey came from 65 of the state’s 66 counties, and DoH leadership say they hope this effort can improve long-term outcomes for mothers and families.
