Sturgis native David Hersrud brings his years in the music industry and lifelong interest in discovering new music to this episode of Fresh Tracks. David and Larry Rohrer introduce you to “Blood Harmony” by Larkin Poe and “Look Up!” from the Harlem Gospel Travelers.
Larkin Poe derives its name from Edgar Allan Poe who is a distant ancestor of sisters Megan, Rebecca, and Jessica Lovell. The group started as a progressive acoustic trio but broke up in 2010 when Jessica left to attend college.
Since then, Megan and Rebecca have continued the family's musical legacy and have been called "little sisters of the Allman Brothers."
To date, Larken Poe has released seven albums and six EPs, with a new album, "Blood Harmony," due November 11.
Larkin Poe is a popular addition to any festival lineup and has gained attention for covers of Black Sabbath, AC-DC, Simon and Garfunkel, and The Rolling Stones.
