According to Forbes, and a study by MoneyRates.com, South Dakota is ranked No. 8 on the “Worst States to Make a Living in 2015” list. When determining this list, MoneyRates ‘considered average wages, taxes, cost of living, unemployment rate, and incidents of workplace safety (including illness, injuries, and deaths) for each state.’

Here are some of the stats MoneyRates came up with. Included stats are Cost of Living Index, Average Income, State Tax on Average Income, Unemployment Rate, and Work Incidents/per 100 Workers. For more information, click here.
