Avera eCARE Joins Program to Improve COVID Response in Nursing Homes

Telehealth

Avera eCARE is joining a nationwide telehealth network to help nursing homes respond to COVID-19. Nursing Home Project ECHO is part of an effort to improve virtual medicine during the pandemic. The program will cover safety and infection control to protect nursing home residents and staff.

The virtual mentoring program lasts 16 weeks. It allows nursing home staff to work with peers and experts for real-time advice.

In a statement, Avera eCARE’s Senior Care Officer Josh Hofmeyer says telehealth technology can make the high-risk nursing home population safer as COVID-19 case counts increase. Avera has already used it to provide virtual doctors visits for nursing home residents.

Facilities that want to participate can contact Avera eCARE’s Senior Care division.
