Fire crews are responding to a wildfire near Lemmon.
The fire started yesterday afternoon and grew because of high winds and extremely dry conditions.
The Lemmon Fire Department reports the fire traveled roughly 20 miles and burned 19 occupied farms and ranches. Two injuries were reported.
The Perkins County Sheriff’s Office closed roads and asked residents south and east of Lemmon to evacuate last night. Highways 12 and 73 are now open to travel.
Fire crews continue to monitor the fire and expect to completely extinguish the fire later today.
