The South Dakota Humanities Council is awarding nearly $50,000 to several nonprofits for educational and artistic programs.
Ann Volin is the executive director of the humanities council. She says the money will fund a variety of offerings and events across the state.
“It's a pretty diverse group with some people who hadn't applied before. So, we're really happy that there's some new ways that the humanities are going to be addressed in South Dakota.”
The latest round of grants includes educational events, performance and documentary productions.
Volin says the council funds about $40,000 each spring and fall. Smaller grants are available throughout the year.
Nine organizations in South Dakota, Nebraska and Missouri received grant money.
