The newly constructed Oglala Lakota Arts Center

The first community arts center on the Pine Ridge Reservation is getting a boost from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The First People’s Fund will receive a $75,000 Our Town grant. Our Town grants are awarded to projects that strengthen communities through art, culture and design.

The First People’s Fund works with indigenous artists and culture bearers across the country. Grant funds will support Lakota artists and the newly constructed Oglala Lakota Arts Center. The center will provide Native artists resources for their work. It will also host arts and cultural events.
