The Rapid City Regional Airport is adding summer flights to LaGuardia and Detroit. The flights are timed to coincide with the heavy tourism season in the Black Hills.
Patrick Dame is the director of the Rapid City Regional Airport. He says the needs of the airport and travel data made the flights possible.
“The carriers have been fairly receptive, you know with western South Dakota being such a great tourism destination, have been very receptive to put nonstop flights in place coming to Rapid City.”
Dame says the airport works with airline carriers to provide flights as demand calls for.
Rapid City will add additional flights from some destinations to handle demand for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in August.
