Want $100? Go Get Vaccinated In Rapid City

Vaccine
Dr. Steve Dick receives the Pfizer vaccine in Rapid City

A South Dakota nonprofit hopes money encourages people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Black Hills Area Community Foundation is offering $100 gift cards to the first 90 people at a vaccination clinic Thursday.

Local donor Stanford Adelstein is paying for the gift cards in honor of his 90th birthday.

No appointment is needed to attend the clinic from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mountain time at The Monument (formerly the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center) in Rapid City. Monument Health will provide one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines, which are authorized for people 18 and older.

The pace of vaccinations in South Dakota has slowed in recent months. About 56 percent of state residents 12 and older are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
