Political junkies in South Dakota will have to wait a little longer to hear weather Kristi Noem will take a shot at a U.S. Senate seat.
Senator Tim Johnson has announced he won’t seek reelection in 2014. Noem says she has not decided on her political future and won’t say if she is thinking about a run for the seat.
“You know I haven’t made any decisions yet. We’ve been pretty busy out here and have a lot of things on our plate I believe there is still time to consider our political future but right now I’m focused on policy,” says Noem.
One policy change Noem is backing would allow employees the flexibility to take comp time instead of overtime pay if they wish. She says she opposed raising the federal minimum wage.
To date former Governor Mike Rounds is the only candidate who has thrown a hat in the ring in the open U.S. Senate race.
