Police Release Video In Death Investigation

Sioux Falls Police Department

Authorities want the public’s help identifying a man who may have information related to a weekend killing. Sioux Falls Police say a preliminary autopsy shows 56-year-old Kari Kirkegaard’s death was a homicide. A family member found her body in the bathroom at her central Sioux Falls home.

Sioux Falls Police are releasing a grainy video that shows a man in walking outside an area business. Other footage shows him riding a bicycle.

Authorities are calling him a person of interest. Officers say they need help figuring out who the man is, so they can discover whether he knows anything about a woman’s death nearby.

Police don’t have a suspect, so they encourage community members to remember general safety habits – like locking doors and paying attention to surroundings. Officials say they don’t believe the public is in danger.

You can watch the video posted on the city's website. If you recognize the person in the video or have another tip, contact Crime Stoppers at 605-367-7007.
