Research Underlines Vulnerability Of Drinking Water Supply

State officials recently released a report showing 166 polluted rivers, streams, and lakes in South Dakota.  Much of those pollution problems are caused by human and livestock waste.
 
Some of the most vulnerable areas of the state are in the Black Hills.    Researchers point out that thousands of septic systems are operating around Rapid City.  They say the large number home based systems poses a potential threat to drinking water quality.
