High School Students Charged With Assault

Two Rapid City High School students were charged with simple assault after a fight in between classes.  Tarah Heupel is with the Rapid City Police Department.

“A female student was walking through the hallway between classes when a 17 year old female approached her hit her and shoved her.  A security guard immediately ran up and broke that up and as he was restraining the suspect a third female got involved and approached the original attacker and punched her several times,” says Heupel.

The students were also charged with disturbance of school.  The incident occurred at the new alternative high school in downtown Rapid City.  Heupel says a third male who attempted to break up the fight was hit in the incident but not charged.
