Flooding is a concern for many residents in the Sioux Falls area after heavy rains, wind, and hail blew through. Officials say there is standing water in areas across the city.
Brian Shawn is the Red Cross Regional Communication Officer for the Dakotas. He says although it’s been a wild twenty-four hours for his disaster staff – they’ve been able to respond accordingly.
“We’ve supported quite a few different families throughout different parts of Sioux Falls and outside of Sioux Falls and Canton, South Dakota that have endured some flooding and we’ve been handing out clean-up kits for some of those families that have basement flooding and we’ve also put up at least three families at this point in lodging because they’ve been displaced due to some flooding in their basement or basement apartments,” says Shawn.
Shawn says flooding is extensive in the Canton area and clean-up kits are still available. He adds that anyone needing assistance can call the Sioux Falls area Red Cross at 336-2448.
