A hotline is open for Union County residents needing assistance for damages from Big Sioux River flooding. The hotline opened Saturday and provides individual assistance for home and business owners.
Raymond Roggow is the emergency manager for Union County. He says emergency management is working to help those with flooded basements, flooded fields, vehicle damages, or road problems.
“We’re working on it right now as we speak to get some staging areas set for some volunteers if people need some help with, oh, mucking out a basement or something like that. But right now that’s just being worked on, and so we don’t have that finalized yet,” says Roggow.
Roggow says he does not have the number of calls the hotline has received. He says the biggest problem right now is the slow recession of flood waters.
The Union County Flood hotline is 877-377-0941 or can be found atunioncountysd.org.
