South Dakota colleges are complying with the Campus SaVE Act. Part of the regulations from Congress include higher education institutions inform students and faculty about sexual violence. Some schools invited a national speaker to talk with members of staff and college kids about sexual assault.
Elaine Pasqua speaks at dozens of colleges each year, and she brought her message to the University of Sioux Falls this semester. SDPB’s Kealey Bultena has this conversation with Pasqua about her messages on alcohol, sex, sexual assault, and drug use.
Pasqua speaks with professional sports teams and at college across the country to help people understand risky behavior. Pasqua says one of the alarming trends she sees is the increased use of marijuana in college. She says the drug grown now is much stronger than a few decades ago and some legalization makes marijuana sound safer. Pasqua says it’s interfering with student success.
