Parts of South Dakota are in a winter weather advisory, but an official with the National Weather Service in Aberdeen says the state won’t see as much snow as originally projected. Meteorologist Scott Doering says five to eight inches of snow fell in some parts of the state, with the heaviest snowfall between Huron and Aberdeen and near Watertown and Milbank. He says some areas may see an additional half inch to one inch tonight.
“The storm that was expected to produce ten to 12 inches kind of fizzled out a little bit, not enough moisture as we were expecting with it,” Doering says. “However it was still pretty impactful across part of the area with snow covered roads and blowing snow.”
Doering says to expect bitter cold temps through early next week with highs in teens and lower 20s.
