Official investigators say a Rapid City police officer was justified in shooting Allan Locke in December in the Lakota Homes Neighborhood.
The report released by the Attorney General’s office and the state’s Department of Criminal Investigations says Locke came at the officer with a knife. Law enforcement officials say the incident was not race related.
But some members of the Native American community believe the police report contradicts eye witness testimony.
The incident sparked outcry from many in the Native community, it came 24-hours after Locke attended an anti-police brutality march.
