Two University of South Dakota football players have pleaded not guilty to sexual assault charges.
Danny Rambo and Dale Williamson appeared in Clay County court Thursday to enter their pleas. Rambo faces a second-degree felony rape charge. Williamson has been charged with second-degree attempted rape.
A woman told Vermillion police that Rambo and Williamson assaulted her on October 22 at Rambo and Williamson's off campus apartment.
Williamson's attorney asked to withdraw from the case due to a busy caseload. Judge Cheryle Gering denied the request after Williamson said he wanted the attorney to remain.
Williamson also faces a separate rape charge stemming from another alleged assault.
Rambo, Williamson, and fellow USD football player Adam Harris are suspended indefinitely from the football team. Harris has not been charged. ?
