Officials say a fire that severely damaged a civic building in Lake Norden resulted in a significant financial blow to the community.
The building appears to be a total loss according to Lake Norden mayor Jason Aho.
“It’s in the millions of dollars," Aho said. "We lost two ambulances, four fire trucks, a municipal building, some municipal supplies, we lost a maintainer that was in there. It’s significant, and insurance isn’t going to cover it all.”
Aho said support from near and far hasn’t gone unnoticed.
“The community outpouring and people reaching out from across the nation has been unbelievable," Aho said. "The people that donate stuff or want to donate stuff, we have a point person – so that’s been a blessing.”
