Rescue personnel responded to two separate emergencies at Hippie Hole in the Black Hills.
The Rockerville Fire Department said EMS and rescue teams from the surrounding areas responded to the incidents Saturday at the popular hiking spot
One person had an injury that prevented them from hiking back out of the area. Rescue teams deployed ropes to move the hiker out of the canyon.
In the middle of that rescue, crews received another report of someone suffering from a heat emergency. They were able to get both patients to safety.
In the wake of these incidents, officials are reminding the public to be aware of the difficulty of hikes they undertake and to stay hydrated, especially in areas with minimal cell reception.
