Chuck Anderson

Chuck Anderson was born on a small farm south of Hitchcock, South Dakota, in the midst of the Great Depression. During World War II, he moved with his family to Bellevue, Nebraska where he graduated from high school in 1954, lettering in football, basketball, and music. (Chuck learned to play the drums at an early age and played with various dance bands and orchestras throughout his high school days.)

Just weeks after graduation, Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was trained in radio and communications and shipped off to Korea. Because of his background in music, he was assigned to duty as radio broadcaster for the Armed Forces Korea Network.

After an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps in 1957, Chuck returned to South Dakota to further his education. While in college, Chuck continued to play drums and percussion in dance bands and orchestras. His summers were spent working as an announcer at KCCR-AM in Pierre.

Over the years, Chuck has worked as a high school band director and as a Development Specialist at the University of South Dakota, but he's never been far from radio broadcasting. He was on the air in Hot Springs during the 1970s, Aberdeen in the 1980s, and Huron in the 1990s.

While in Huron, Chuck developed and produced "Personalities With Chuck Anderson," a series of hour-long conversations with both well-known and not-so-well-known South Dakotans.

Today, Chuck and his wife are retired and living in Huron.
