On Monday, the investigative news nonprofit ProPublica published an investigation centered on former South Dakota governor Kristi Noem.

The article alleges Noem accepted $80,000, an amount that represents portion of funds she helped raise for a political nonprofit. She then, allegedly, did not report these funds in her disclosure documents when she became the Secretary of Homeland Security.

ProPublica is not alleging Noem broke campaign finance laws. Her lawyer issued a statement saying Noem fully complied with the spirit and letter of the law. Noem says she accepted no personal income from the nonprofit.

Our Dakota Political Junkies offer their analysis of the fresh financial scrutiny.
