Country artists to add to your music collection

Larry Rohrer and David Hersrud always have a lot of music suggestions. So, which ones are absolutely necessary to buy?

To answer that question—while also providing more recommendations—our Fresh Tracks musical guides suggest two country singers well worth investing in.

Chris Stapleton
Artist Chris Stapleton is the genius behind songs like “If It Hadn’t Been for Love” by Adele, “Never Wanted Nothing More” by Kenny Chesney, "Don't Start Lying to Me Now" for Joss Stone and "Homesick" for Sheryl Crow.

In 2007, Stapleton became the front man for the bluegrass group the SteelDrivers.

He's written or popularized songs such as:

“Tennessee Whiskey”

“Broken Halos”

“I’m a Ram”

Kacey Musgraves
Born in 1988, Kacey Musgraves released her first album when she was 14 years old.

She was discovered professionally in 2008 while living in Austin. She performed as the opening act in Lady A's European tour in 2012.

Musgraves is now an award-winning artist with nominations and wins from the Country Music Awards and the Grammy Awards.

Her hits include:

“Merry Go 'Round”

"Slow Burn”

“Sitting In The Corner”
Cuco featuring Kacey Musgraves and Adriel Favela

Larry, although retired as Assistant General Manager for SDPB, continues to write, host, and do media production and voice work for SDPB.
