Rose Wilder Lane, born near De Smet and the daughter of South Dakota's most famous couple, became a professional writer and columnist for the Pittsburgh Courier. The Courier had one of the largest African-American readerships at that time. Rose spent time in those WWII-era columns describing and advocating for the Libertarian movement. In fact, she gave the term the meaning it has today and was perhaps the person most responsible for its start. David Beito and Marcus Witcher join us to talk about their recent book of her columns and her impact on 20th-century American politics.
