From the Archives: Since first releasing this episode, Corey Christenson's article about Alfred Dahlin's First World War experiences has received the Schell Prize for the best article of 2025 in the South Dakota History Journal. The Dahlin family's donation of Alfred's WWI uniform and gear touched off Corey's continuing search to tell his story. Recruited into a unit made from the American West, Dahlin experienced a war that highlights typical experiences, but with his wounds and recovery, we learn a unique and insightful story.
