The South Dakota High School Activities Association sanctioned high school soccer in South Dakota in 2011. In the fall of 2012, the first sanctioned season took place with Aberdeen Central winning on the girls side and Sioux Falls Christian winning in boys. At that time it was only a one class system. Fast forward a decade and there are two classes of competition and the level of play is as good as ever.
