Outgoing Board of Regents executive director reflects on his legacy

Jackie Hendry

On today's In the Moment...

SDPB's Evan Walton heads to the crop fields of South Dakota to look at how farmers and ranchers weathered the harsh winter.

Brian Maher, Ed.D., stepped into his role as CEO and executive director of the South Dakota Board of Regents during a difficult time. He spoke with Lori Walsh about his tenure's tumultuous beginning with the COVID-19 pandemic and challenges in the legislature.

They talked about higher education, unemployment and the Board of Regents' relationship with lawmakers.

Yesterday, In the Moment spoke with a representative from the city of Sioux Falls about the challenges of maintaining the roads during seasons of extreme weather.

But, what happens in towns and townships that don't have a powerful streets department? Dustin Leiseth is the president of the South Dakota Association of Towns and Townships. He joins to talk about the unique issues faced by rural South Dakotans living in and driving around townships.

Plus, Larry Rohrer pops into record stores around the state to learn about their Record Store Day preparations.
