Remembering the Children Memorial seeks to honor & inspire

Red, yellow and white lanterns will light the way for Light the Night attendees on Saturday. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will seek to celebrate and honor those affected by cancer during the event in Falls Park in Sioux Falls.

Thousands of children lived and died at the Rapid City Indian Boarding School. Amy Sazue, executive director of the Remembering the Children Memorial, asks us to think about their stories and how the school continues to impact the Rapid City community.

The Remembering the Children Memorial is opening a temporary exhibit in the Tusweca Gallery featuring historical photos and documents from the school. Opening night is this Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Kevin Woster recounts his time as a volunteer driver during last week's South Dakota Festival of Books. He claims his small talk only put one author to sleep.
