On today's show...
"In the Moment" brings you an episode dedicated to exploring the life and legacy of a cowboy poet. Charles Badger Clark, Jr. was South Dakota's first poet laureate, and his words and works still resonate in the state.
We share conversations with people who knew Clark or have been touched by his poetry.
First, an interview with Linda Hasselstrom, an award-winning South Dakotan poet. Her books include "Bitter Creek Junction," "Gathering from the Grassland: A Plains Journal" and "Walking: the Changes."
Hasselstrom is also featured in SDPB's documentary "Badger Clark: Poet Among the Pines." We play a few scenes and interviews from the film.
Plus, the current state poet laureate brings us the words of the first. Bruce Roseland read "The Outlaw" by Badger Clark at the opening of the Poetry Walk in Brookings last September.
