Kathleen Norris and Jeanine Basinger discuss Hollywood

On today's show...

Jeanine Basinger is a pioneer in the field of university film studies and founder of Wesleyan University's Cinema Studies Department. She's a trustee of the American Film Institute, an award-winning teacher, and the author of 12 books on film.

She and co-author Sam Wasson wove together hundreds of interviews to create an oral history of Hollywood for a new book. Basinger joins "In the Moment" to take listeners on a journey through film from the Silent Era to today (1:00 to 27:43).

"Hollywood: The Oral History" is a comprehensive history of cinematic stories and storytellers.

New York Times bestselling author Kathleen Norris ("Dakota: A Spiritual Geography" and "Cloister Walk") has a new book with 12 movies to watch throughout a year. It's more than a watch list. It's a voyage through spirituality and a human life (27:43 to 48:54).
