On today's show...

Cyanide is known for its long and lethal legacy across history and literature. Brian Logue, Ph.D., knew the chemical by that reputation but also for its signaling function in plants.

He set out to see if cyanide could serve a similar function in mammals, including humans. Logue, a department head and professor at South Dakota State University, discusses why human cells create their own cyanide (1:00 to 20:55).

Singer-songwriter Abbey Leach joined the show in March to say goodbye to San Francisco. We bring you that song and a discussion about her songwriting process (20:55 to 24:48).

Find her full interview here.

Teacher, songwriter, gardener and nature lover Cory Cavill found herself in a dark place while sitting on the edge of a frog pond in Rockerville.

She discusses writing the performance piece "The Frog Pond," and finding her voice and her howl (24:48 to 49:00).

Contact Cory Cavill.
