On today's show...
Thursday is the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act. The act allowed women to serve permanently in the armed forces.
Today, we get to know a U.S. Army veteran from South Dakota.
Lucy Middleton joined the Army in 1968 and served as a nurse. She cared for soldiers who would lose their lives in the Vietnam War. And she also cared for Vietnamese civilians who got caught in the crossfire.
Middleton couldn't join the VFW as a woman, so she joined a group created for women's veterans and connected with other women there.
Middleton shares her story, what it was like to return to civilian life and the things she took with her from her time in Vietnam.
