A federal safety net helps farmers withstand economic, political, and climate volatility. But experts say that safety net is not meeting the needs of today’s farm families.

Doug Sombke leads South Dakota Farmers Union. He spoke with Lori Walsh about ideas for updating the Farm Bill, the importance of listening during negotiations, and progress on "right to repair" agreements.
