Overdose deaths in custody raise questions about consequences of contraband

Eight people have died in South Dakota’s prisons system since February due to overdose.

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says he will announce additional criminal charges related to overdose deaths in the coming weeks.

SDPB’s Lori Walsh asked Jackley about the deaths and whether they can be prevented.
