State senators have approved legislation aiming to protect students and employees from “divisive concepts” at state universities and technical colleges. The bill passed the Senate by a vote of 27 to 8. Similar legislation for K-12 public schools was killed by a Senate committee.

House lawmakers are approving 200 million dollars in loans and grants to help with housing infrastructure. Similar proposals failed in the chamber several times in the last few days.

South Dakota House Republicans have passed a completely rewritten version of a bill from Gov. Kristi Noem to allow employees to gain exemptions from their employer’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

Dozens gathered in the parking lot of a Sioux Falls church Sunday afternoon to show support for the Ukrainian community amid the ongoing violence from the Russian invasion.

A bill designed to prevent the spread of zebra mussels has died in the legislature.  The aquatic invasive species is infiltrating South Dakota waters.
