The Oceti Sakowin Community Academy, or OSCA, has officially opened its doors in Rapid City. The move comes just weeks after the public school district’s Lakota Immersion Program shut down.

The state climatologist predicts a warm and dry fall for South Dakota. Laura Edwards says temperatures for the first week of September will be well above average, and that's bad news for the drought.

A federal district judge has declined to stop Lyman County’s November 2022 commission election, even though he found that it will violate the federal Voting Rights Act. But to protect future elections, Chief Judge Roberto Lange has ordered the county not to alter its redistricting plan passed in late August until after the 2030 census.
