On today's update...

There are new calls for an increase in election integrity in South Dakota. A circuit court judge continues to hear questions over whether county auditors should preserve data from the 2020 election. The case spotlights a rift in the state’s Republican party. Some, like Governor Kristi Noem, call for more transparency – while other Republican leaders say county auditors and election workers run safe and secure elections.

Another member of South Dakota’s congressional delegation has landed on Russia’s sanctions list. Republican U.S. Senator Mike Rounds was added to the list. Rounds has been critical of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He joins fellow South Dakota, Republican Representative Dusty Johnson, on Russia’s  sanctions list.

A new report says that the names of hundreds of U.S. law enforcement officers, elected officials and military members appear on the leaked membership rolls of a far-right extremist group. That group is accused of playing a key role in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.

As South Dakotans prepare to get their seasonal flu shots, there’s also a new COVID booster coming online.

There is a first-of-its-kind agreement between the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety. The new arrangement helps the organizations work together more effectively.

There’s a major upgrade underway for how the state measures soil moisture and snowpack. A new SDSU Mesonet moisture measurement network is going in across the state.

And more.
