The South Dakota candidates for U.S. Senate agree inflation is a problem in the county, but during the lone debate between all three, candidates disagreed on the cause.

The 2022 midterm election is on Tuesday, but some are already looking ahead to 2024.  Dozens gathered in downtown Sioux Falls to pick up the first batch of petitions to place abortion rights on the ballot. 

 In the twenty-first century, political advertising has become unavoidable. What goes into these major campaign investments – and how effective are they?

Democratic Senate hopeful Brian Bengs challenged incumbent Senator John Thune on his approach to veteran health care in the SDPB/Dakota News Now Debate. Thune initially voted against the PACT Act, before voting for it. That bill expands benefits for veterans exposed to toxins.

A South Dakota Dollar General store is under federal investigation over workplace safety concerns. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration – or OSHA is investigating the Dollar General in Brandon.

On November 9th, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments concerning the Indian Child Welfare Act. ICWA is a federal law introduced by South Dakota’s U.S. Senator James Abourezk 45 years ago and passed by Congress in 1978. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a 325-page opinion last year that upheld some aspects but found other aspects unconstitutional. Both sides now challenge that opinion.
