Legislative leaders have reached a deal on cutting the overall state sales tax. A conference committee is agreeing on a proposal to reduce sales tax by point three percent for four years.

Two men reported missing the Black Hills have been found safe. The state of South Dakota issued an Endangered Missing Advisory after the two did not return home after snowmobiling. Authorities canceled the advisory Wednesday afternoon.

The House has passed a bill clarifying qualifying conditions for medical cannabis cards in the state, including PTSD. Senate Bill 1 also removes the Department of Health from dictating which disorders can be added to the state’s list of medical cannabis use.

The House passed Senate Bill 118 this week. The bill expands eligibility for teachers to qualify for reduced tuition.

After deliberation and multiple meetings between the House and Senate, Senate Bill 40 is dead. That means statewide candidates will continue to be nominated by state convention.
