On today's update...

With mounting tensions between farmers and CO2 pipeline companies across the state, some lawmakers believe it is time to change state law on eminent domain. And they don't want to wait until session starts in January.

A South Dakota board is approving an expansion of the state's only active gold mine. The minerals and environment board's move allows Wharf to expand its open-pit mine near Terry Peak by fifty acres.

The Federal Highway Administration is awarding grants to 13 projects to improve road safety on reservations in South Dakota. The grants, totaling more than $20 million, will go toward 88 tribal projects nationwide.

U.S. Department of Labor is awarding South Dakota $300,000 to expand access for Registered Apprenticeship programs. The Biden Administration says the grant will increase apprenticeships in high-growth, high-demand industries.

While some schools face a shortage of teachers, the next generation of educators are ready for their chance in charge of a classroom. A new apprenticeship program from USD hopes to make that jump from student to teacher that much smoother.

And more.
