The most populated county in South Dakota might ditch the voting machines and count its ballots by hand. Minnehaha County Auditor Leah Anderson floated the idea at a recent county commission meeting, though no action was taken.

The state Department of Health reports 18,000 South Dakotans 65 or older living with Alzheimer's disease — but stigma and fear are major roadblocks to treatment. Now, extra funding could keep the conversation going in South Dakota.

South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks is confirming a new section of the Big Sioux River is infested with zebra mussels. The department says the Big Sioux from Lake Kampeska to the Missouri Rivers is now considered infested.

For corn and soybean producers in South Dakota — it's a good report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, who says the state is ahead of its average production. The USDA reports 45 percent of the state's corn and 44 percent of soybeans are in good or excellent condition.
