On today's update...

A Senate committee is advancing a proposal that cuts the state’s eviction notice time for ‘at-will’ tenants in half. Opponents say the change will increase the number of evictions in South Dakota.

An oversight correction relating to housing grant dollars in South Dakota tribal settings is advancing through the legislature. Last year, legislators passed the Housing Infrastructure Finance Program, but that program language excluded tribal governments.

Landowners from Lincoln County had their day in court against the state and its proposed men’s prison location. The Neighbors Opposed to Prison Expansion challenged the state’s ability to surpass county zoning ordinances.

A bill tightening up South Dakota’s residency requirements for hunting and fishing licenses is one step closer to becoming law. The House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee unanimously approved SB 54.

And more.
