On today's update...
A senate panel is passing a bill that asks voters if they want to place a work requirement on people who receive Medicaid health care benefits. That's despite research that shows work requirements do little to increase a state's workforce.
The House State affairs committee rejects a bill to prohibit lewd content on public university campuses. HB1113 would prevent state dollars going toward so-called "lewd" content on Board of Regents institutions.
The House Education Committee advanced a bill continuing a program allowing tax credits to businesses supporting sending students to private schools. At the core of the issue is a philosophical question — would the tax credits offered to insurance companies for participation in the program be general fund dollars otherwise?
A bill to give school counselors discounted tuition in South Dakota universities has advanced from House Education. SB1 would provide half-off undergrad and graduate-level tuition for up to six credit hours a year.
And more.
