Communities across southeast South Dakota continue flood recovery efforts. That includes Canton, where the mayor estimated three-quarters of homes had some degree of flooding.

The Emerald Ash Borer continues to prove to be a pest as it spreads throughout the state. The city of Brookings is the latest to report an infestation of the insect.

The Brookings City Council has approved funding to expand childcare services in the community. In total, more than half million additional funds were added to the school district.

Wind Cave in the Black Hills is officially the sixth longest cave in the world after the discovery of new passageways. Spelunkers have been exploring the caves since the National Park Service started managing the land in 1903.
